Conform FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration), s-a limitat administrarea la 10mg in loc de 20mg simvastatina (ZOCOR, SIMVACARD, CLERIVAS, SIMVAGAMMA, SIMVAHEXAL, ZEPLAN, VASILIP, ZAREDIL) la pacientii care utilizeaza concomitent medicamente care contin amiodarona (CORDARONE,amiodarona sau SEDACORON etc)
Pacienţii care au luat simvastatină 80 mg pe zi au un risc crescut de miopatie (leziuni musculare), comparativ cu pacientii care au luat doze mai mici din acest medicament sau alte medicamente din aceeaşi clasă . Acest risc pare să fie mai mare în timpul primului an de tratament si este adesea rezultatul unor interacţiuni cu anumite medicamente
Cea mai gravă formă de miopatie, poate afecta rinichii si duce la insuficienta renala, care poate fi fatala
